SUPPLIER CONNECTIONS

Five questions to ask your next supplier.

1. Is this the exact item I need?

Share the relevant equipment model and part identification with the supplier. Ask the supplier to confirm fit and compatibility in writing. Similar product names and photographs are not enough to establish that a replacement item is suitable.

2. What is included in the quote?

Ask for an itemized quote that separates the product, delivery, taxes and any installation or configuration charges. If a quote depends on an account discount or minimum quantity, have that condition written down before you compare it with another offer.

3. When can you actually supply it?

Distinguish available inventory from an estimated supplier or factory date. Ask where the order ships from, whether partial shipments are possible and how delays are communicated. Confirm coverage and freight arrangements directly, especially for large equipment.

4. Who handles a problem after delivery?

Find out who manages warranty questions, returns and damaged deliveries. Ask how to reach a real support contact and which records they will need. Save the quote, order confirmation and relevant correspondence together.

5. Is this a useful long-term connection?

Think about the purchases your business makes repeatedly. Reliable documentation, clear communication and access to the right parts may matter as much as an isolated discount. Start with a small, clearly specified order when practical and record what went well.
